Our second annual KidsMatter Wellbeing Expo held last Thursday was a great success, with an impressive number of families, neighbouring school staff and members of our local community engaged in learning about effective health and wellbeing. The record number of health organisations present acknowledged the vibrancy, level of participation and sense of community evident in our school, and applauded the proactive measures we are taking in addressing the growing mental health needs evident in our society. They noted the comfort and willingness of members of our school community to discuss issues of concern and the openness in seeking support from key health professional organisations. The various local sporting and community groups present, many represented by past and present students, were excited by the level of interest shown in joining their clubs. We thank all those who gave of their time and talent to manages stalls, perform demonstrations, run workshops and activities. Flyers, information and resources from all organisations present at the Expo are available in the KIdsMatter Corner in the Atrium. Information in this area is continually updated and built upon, so please make this corner a regular visit when you drop off or pick up your children from school

The talent of our students was showcased beautifully at the concert and in the range of activities run by Life Be In It and Wheelchair sports. According to the students and evident in the length of the line, the Casey 360 Bus was a big hit! We thank the staff for running their FRIENDS Program workshops and the families who attended these, showing an active interest in the social and emotional learning program your children are engaged in, here at school. As previously mentioned, this program is the only social /emotional program endorsed by the World Health Organisation as proven to be effective in the prevention and management of anxiety and depression. You are welcome to come and speak to your child’s class teacher at any time about strategies and language used. Thanks also to those who took the opportunity to listen to the outstanding guest speakers present. The quality of their presentations was exceptional and very well received by those who attended. Information given by these speakers is also available in the KidsMatter Corner.
