Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to 2023! We hope you enjoyed a restful break with your family and friends and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
We warmly welcome our Foundation and new students and their families into the school community. Thank you for choosing Trinity and placing your trust in the school. We look forward to working in partnership with you.
On Monday it was amazing to see so many parents and grandparents walking their children into school. The students entered the classrooms with great enthusiasm and have settled into school life well. If the first few days are an indication of the year to come, then we are in for a fantastic year of learning and opportunities.
Staffing Updates
This year we welcomed Miss Viney, Mrs Mitrea, Mrs Albert and Mrs Marcolongo onto the teaching staff as full and part time teachers and Ms Ortolan as an ESO. We also welcomed back Miss Watson, Mrs Vellin and Miss Lindsay from maternity leave and Mrs Schinck who was on sick leave, all in a part time capacity. We are blessed with a dedicated staff who go above and beyond for the students at Trinity.
Congratulations to Mrs Fogarty and her husband on the exciting news that they will be adding a new addition to their family in June this year. We wish them all the best as they prepare for the arrival of their second child.
PAM – Important Information
During the holidays all families would have received an important email asking them to update their PAM accounts by clicking on a link to reset their password. This email came from a noreply@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au address. It is important that this is done ASAP so we have access to your child’s medical profile and so that key school messages can be delivered detailing school events. If you did not receive this email, please contact the school office.
Fundraising
This year we will be looking at fundraising again to raise much needed funds to redevelop the school grounds as we unfortunately do not have enough money in the budget to do this after the completion of the new building. We have developed a team of parents who will head up the fundraising and they will be looking for volunteers to help at each event. The first event to be held will be a Colour Fun Run on Friday March 3rd. If you are interested in joining the committee or helping at this event, please contact the school office. The next Fundraising Meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th February at 8.45am in the School Board Room. All volunteers are most welcome to attend.
School Gate Opening Times
The school gates will open at 8.30am and students will be allowed into the classrooms at 8.35am. There is NO SUPERVISION before 8.30am so please do not drop off your children before this time. We ask parents to please support the school in this matter.
School Carpark – PLEASE TURN LEFT
For the safety of all the students and families, we kindly request that cars exiting the carpark turn LEFT. Last night there was almost an accident when a car turned right into oncoming traffic. We ask that you respect this rule and support us in keeping everyone safe.
School Bell Times

School Uniform
All students are expected to wear their full summer uniform during Term 1. This includes a school hat and white school socks for the girls and navy socks for the boys. Sports and ankle socks are not part of the summer uniform. Students may also wear either a black leather school shoe or a black sport like school shoe, but these must NOT have any coloured writing or coloured symbols on them and cannot be a casual black shoe. I am asking parents to support school staff in ensuring that their child comes to school each day in the correct uniform.
Assemblies
School assemblies will be held fortnightly on a Thursday afternoon at 2.30pm in the school hall. The first assembly for the year will be on Thursday 9th February. No level will share their learning due to the high number of birthday certificates and awards that need to be presented. Families are most welcome to attend.
2024 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments
We have now begun the process of enrolling 2024 Foundation students. If you have a child coming in 2024, or know of someone else who does, please contact the office for further details. Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the Trinity School Website.

Religious Education- Term 1, Week 2
Welcome back for another school year. In particular, welcome to all of our new families. We hope that this is the start of a great journey. It is a journey likely to have some ups and downs, but at the heart of education, is preparing our young people for their adult lives and we certainly know adult life has many trials and tribulations.
Jesus himself went through many trials and tribulations. He often found happiness in the least expected places. He preferred to surround himself with not kings and high society, yet deliberately with people on the outside, hard working people and those who had often made some mistakes along the way.
Catholic Education puts Jesus as our central model, a person to learn from, a teacher, who came to bring the word of God to life. That element requires faith, and we know that many people within the community may not hold that faith, so from day one, we want you to know you are welcome here. There is still much that those outside the faith learn and revere about the historical person Jesus, just as we look to people who have made significant contributions to history. People in society can often have a view of Catholic Schools that is not an accurate reflection, or a picture that may have been true 60 years ago. So we hope your enjoy your journey and we thank you for choosing our school, and look forward to your contribution to our community.
Sacramental Program- Reconciliation
PARENT ONLY WORKSHOP
Parents are invited to enrol their children for the 2023 Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is traditionally focused on our Year 3 students or above students. Your child should have received the Sacrament of Baptism before enrolling for their First Reconciliation.
The enrolment and parent only workshop is held on Thursday 9th February and Wednesday 15th February at 7.00pm in the Church.
Parents are required to only attend one of the enrolment nights. Attendance to one of the sessions is mandatory if you wish to prepare your child for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is a parent only workshop and children are not required to attend.
If for any reason you miss the enrolment night, or cannot make it to any other meeting/workshop, we request you to wait until the following year, as the
parish is unable to offer any catch up workshops for those who are unable to attend.
An enrolment levy of $50 is payable via CDF Pay https://olhc.cdfpay.org.au Please bring your receipt number to the enrolment night.
Bookings open from Tuesday, 16th January 2023 at 10.00am and closes on Friday 17th February at 10.00am 2023.

Student Support - Term 1,Week 2
Friendship and Belonging
At Trinity, the school community has access to a resource called School TV. School TV is a platform which provides schools with an extensive range of wellbeing resources for parents, so they can work together in partnership to ensure better wellbeing for all students.
Throughout the year, we may share links to articles on School TV via PAM or through our school newsletter which may be relevant or beneficial to our school community.
This week's article discusses how we can build childrens sense of belonging and support children to make and maintain friendships. The article also explores different strategies to use to support children during the inevitable ups and downs of friendships.
Student Representative Council
At Trinity, there are many opportunities for students to take on a leadership role and make a difference. Two students in each class from Foundation to Year 5 are elected as their class Student Representative Council (SRC) Members. The elected SRC Members work closely as a team with Mrs Pepper, Mr Sharp, Year 6 Social Justice Leaders and myself throughout the year.
Throughout Learning To Learn, classes explore what it means to be a leader and the role of the SRC. We encourage all students to step out of their comfort zone and put their hand up to make a difference to our School Community.
As a school, we developed a set of criteria to support students understand the role of the SRC.
Our 2023 SRC Members will be announced at our assembly next week on Thursday 9 February.

- Work closely as a team with Mrs Pepper, Mr Sharp, Miss Farrelly, Social Justice Leaders and other SRC Members.
*This role will be shared amongst Trinity students (students can only be elected as SRC once during their schooling). There will be lots of other leadership opportunities in Year 5 and Year 6.

NAPLAN 2023
NAPLAN will be held earlier this year. All Year 3 and 5 students will complete NAPLAN between the 15th of March and the 27th of March.
If any families in Year 3 or Year 5 have holidays booked during this time, could they please email me (paul.sharp@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au), so we can factor this into our planning.
We use NAPLAN to provide us with feedback about how we can improve our teaching, whilst parents are provided with a snapshot of how their child is progressing. For us, it is one assessment that make up a thorough Assessment Schedule and should not present any stress for students, as they are well versed at completing online assessments.

Seesaw
Seesaw brings you into the classroom. It shares your childs work with you through your phone. It provides you with what your child is learning and gives snapshots of feedback of your child's progress throughout the year. Most importantly, it promotes reflective practice for students.
Those families who enrolled to Seesaw last year, will have their accounts rolled over this week.
You will notice a new journal appear under last years journal, so you do not have to do anything to follow your child's classwork for this year.
For those who have not connected before, or are new to the school, you will receive an instruction sheet with a QR code to enrol.
We are finalising our photo permissions at the moment which we will send out with more information.
We should have it all up and running within the next week and look forward to you sharing your child's learning journey.

Visual Art-Week Two Term One
VISUAL ARTS
Welcome back! WHAT IS THE VISUAL ARTS AT TRINITY The Visual Arts program at Trinity Primary School offers students a wide range of skills, techniques and processes and focuses on the artistic elements of art. The elements are taught through the media also includes the study of art in history and its place in world cultures. Through their work students are encouraged to explore real, imaginary, and abstract ideas as well as cultural and historical issues. These are often linked to the integrated units currently being studied in their classrooms. This helps to enhance the unit of work and to draw upon the meaningful experiences and observations of each student. All students will have the opportunity to participate in a one-hour lesson each week. Student’s artworks are often displayed in classrooms around the school, in our community and on Artsonia. |
ARTSONIA Artsonia is the world’s largest online student art museum. and showcases artwork from thousands of schools around the world. Students work is uploaded to Artsonia (an online international gallery). Trinity’s gallery has over 35,000 piece of artwork in its Gallery . You will receive an email asking for permission for your child to be part of the Trinity Art community, I ask that you give permission through this email. Its goals are to develop students’ pride and self-esteem, increase their multicultural understanding through art and involve parents and relatives in students’ education and accomplishments. Your child or I upload their child’s artwork onto the website. Artsonia is a unique, safe, and educational opportunity for the students. You or others in your family can comment on your child’s artwork: One of the most exciting features about being published on Artsonia’s Art Museum is that friends and family from anywhere in the world can leave a nice comment for the artist and become a fan club member of the artist. ART AND LITERACY COMPETITION Trinity participates in the promotion of Literacy and Art links. Last year we had a student win the Balnaves Foundation Literary Award for Poetry from entries all around Australia, we also had other winners in this national competition in both the Arts category and the Literacy category. Students are able to upload both their artwork and any poems or stories they may have written. Competition closes on the 30th of September. Oz Kids was initiated in the early 90's by The Australian Children's Literary Board, a Not-For-Profit Organisation primarily focused on the literary needs of our young children. Oz Kids is a magazine which we distribute on a national basis and publish online through this website. Its purpose is to promote and support children's literary and artistic talents and to provide a vehicle for children to appreciate and develop their skills and encourage them to continue in the arts, especially when they see their work published. |

Run Club 2023 - Week 2, Term 1 2023
Run Club is back on this year. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their running stamina and speed, not only for events like cross country running, but is extremely beneficial for those taking part in sports like football, soccer, netball and basketball. If your child is in years 3-6 and is interested in improving their running stamina and speed, please send them along to Run Club with Mr. Dannaoui every Friday at the start of lunch.
