Dear Parents and Carers,

At Trinity we are blessed with a staff of almost 60 people who are committed to providing the best opportunities for all the students in their care. This Friday marks the date that Australia celebrates World Teachers’ Day. On this day we remember and acknowledge the wonderful commitment teachers all over Australia have made to educating our children. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the passionate teachers, leaders, support staff, administration staff and canteen staff at Trinity who go above and beyond what is expected every day to ensure our children have the best opportunity to learn and grow. Not only do I have the privilege of working with such a dedicated staff, but I am also blessed to have the staff educating my youngest son. I hope that you will join me this Friday in wishing the staff a happy World Teachers Day.

Day for Daniel - This Friday 27th October

Children may wear RED clothes on this day in return for a gold coin donation.

A Day for Daniel is about educating children about child safety and protection and helping empower children to ‘Recognise, React and Report’ if they feel something is not right. On Friday, Trinity will be helping to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm. The children will participate in a range of child safety activities.  All money raised on this day will go towards the Daniel Morcombe foundation.

Grandparents / Special Friends Day

On Friday, the 10th of November, we will celebrate our Grandparents / Special Friends Day. This is a highlight of the school calendar, and we look forward to seeing as many grandparents / friends attend as possible.  A letter was sent home with families last week about the morning and with an RSVP section for catering purposes. If you could please return the slip to the office, it would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations - Regional Athletics

Congratulations to Asmara, Harley, Harry, Zoe, Ivana and Lily who represented Trinity last Wednesday at the Regional Athletics. This is a huge achievement to make it this far and they all should be extremely proud of their individual achievements. Thank you to Mrs Woolf for supporting the students on the day.

2025 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

We have now begun the process of enrolling 2025 Foundation students.  If you have a child coming in 2025, or know of someone else who does, please contact the Office for an application form or you can download one from the school website.

Donations Needed

Next year we will be holding our School Carnival on Sunday 17^th March 2024. The Fundraising team are busy planning the event and are looking for possible donations that can be used for either the major raffle, prizes for the spinning wheel or small novelty prizes/lollies/chocolates for the carnival games. If you, or someone you know, is in a position to kindly donate either goods or services to the school for this event, we would be extremely appreciative.  In return we would be more than happy to promote your business through our school newsletter during Term 1 and a carnival flyer.  All money raised on the day will go directly to the development of our school grounds. Please contact the office if you are interested in supporting the school carnival in this way.

Assembly

This Thursday our Year 6 students will host the assembly.

On Thursday 8^th November our Year 5 students will host assembly and they will showcase what they have been learning during Performing Arts this semester. This assembly will begin promptly at 2.30pm as the showcase will last around 30mins. There will be no awards at this assembly, only birthdays.

Support for Families – Mary Ellen Davis

At Trinity we are blessed to have MaryEllen Davis who is a child psychologist work with us to provide support and advice to parents and staff. MaryEllen is back at Trinity on Wednesday 8^th November. If you would like the opportunity to speak with MaryEllen, please contact the office and a time can be allocated for you.  Alternatively, if you would like to talk about your child, or your family circumstances, our door is always open.

Year 6 Swimming Program

Next Monday, 30^th October, the Year 6 students will participate in their 8-day intensive swim program. Parents are most welcome to attend to support their child.

Remembrance Day – 11^th November

Remembrance Day poppies, key rings and bracelets can be purchased through the school office.

Canteen Update

Currently there is a shortage of flavoured milk and we have not received any new supplies to date. If you order milk, there may be a chance that we are not able to fulfil this order.  Thank you for your understanding.

Religious Education - Term 4, Week 4

Dear Families, 

Altar Server Workshop
Last week we had an incredible 54 grade four and five students attend the Altar Server Workshop with Fr Brendan in the Trinity Chapel. What an amazing response! During this session Fr Brendan discussed the role of an altar server and ensured students had an understanding of the items used during mass. He made beautiful connections to scripture and encouraged the students to continue to listen to The Holy Spirit guiding them on this path of ministry. It was wonderful to see these students living out the Good News in their actions, serving the altar. Their enthusiasm and excitement for their ministry is heart warming and a wonderful expression of our Catholic Identity. 

Parent Prayer Group
Our Parent Prayer group began last Wednesday in our Trinity Chapel with a beautiful group of parents from the Trinity community saying “yes” to the call to engage in this oppurtunity for prayer, and what a blessing it was! As Sister Joan so eloquently says “of all the attitudes we bring to prayer, presence is at once one of the simplest and one of the most difficult.”It was fantastic to sit in the presence of God, listening for that voice within to pray with our hearts. Sharing our experiences and connecting with the Word of God was a calming experience that helped us to grow in relationship with each other, and with God.

I invite you all to join us next Wednesday at 9am to connect with other parents, share in your experiences, and take the time to be with God. No matter where you are on your prayer journey, please come along.

Christmas Appeal - St Vincent De Paul 

It's not even November yet, but you may see a festive Christmas Tree in our atrium this week! Christmas can be a wonderful time, but when a tragedy or crisis hits it can be terribly hard. This Christmas, we want live out the mission of Jesus, to give hope to those battling tough times. We are inviting all Trinity families to contribute to the St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal for the less fortunate in our community. Non-perishable foods, Christmas treats and toys are all welcome. Please bring your donations to the atrium Christmas Tree, the front office or your child's classroom. Each small donation can make a huge difference in someone life.

SchoolTV- Positive Parenting

Despite the best efforts of parents around the world, the reality is, there is no such thing as the ‘perfect parent’. However, arming yourself with the right information is a good start!

Research shows, that one of the most important protective factors in the lives of young people, is a close relationship with a supportive adult. With the mental health of today’s young people being at an all-time low, it is simply not enough to parent effectively. Parents need to familiarise themselves with practical skills, knowledge and strategies when it comes to raising children.

Many parents today are over-protective, resulting in children being less independent, unable to problem-solve or self-regulate. Parents are failing to set clear boundaries, which is unfortunately making kids feeling less secure. There is too much pressure on kids today. Parents fill their days with too many activities in an effort to avoid their child’s boredom.

In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will learn what is the best approach for primary and secondary school aged children.

Year Three RE Inquiry "How can we make a difference?" Term 4 Week 4

Year Three students had an opportunity to host Lynn, a volunteer from Shepherds Table at Our Lady’s Help of Christian who shared with us how Shepherds Table  reach out to families in need.

The Shepherd’s Table is a ministry whose purpose is advancing social and public welfare by relieving the poverty, distress or disadvantage of individuals and families.  They reach out to those in need within our community and beyond.  They provide nutritious meals, offer an alternative ear and connect with the open heart in a safe and welcoming environment.  In doing so they are also hoping to nourish their spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing.  The Shepherd's Table is funded by donations and operates twice a month.  They operate a kitchen within the OLHC church premises providing regular meals for people in need (meals served on the first and third Saturday of each month)  They  provide parcels of food and other essential grocery items to people who cannot afford to buy basic food for themselves and their families.  Also to support individuals and families experiencing hardship through whatever means they have available to ministry.

Students were so engaged during the session with Lynn and made connections to the inquiry project that they did last term in Religion “How can we make a difference?”  They asked thought provoking questions to learn more about this ministry of our church such as, “What inspires you to do this job?’

We thank Lynn for giving us her time to be with us here at Trinity and enlighten our students about their ministry. We will continue to support Shepherds Table as we lead into Christmas.

OzKids is a magazine which  distributes on a national basis and publish online through the website. Its purpose is to promote and support children’s literary and artistic talents and to provide a vehicle for children to appreciate and develop their skills and encourage them to continue in the arts, especially when they see their work published.

Physical Education - Term 4, Week 4

SOUTHERN METROPOLITAN REGION ATHLETICS - Wednesday 18th October

We congratulate the following students who represented Trinity in the School Sport Victoria Southern Metropolitan Region Athletics held at Casey Fields:

Asmara (6B) - under 12 girls long jump and under 12 girls 4 X 100m relay

Harley (6C) - under 12 boys 80m hurdles

Harry (5B) - under 11 boys 100m

Zoe (6B), Ivana (6B) and Lily (6C) - under 12 girls 4 X 100m relay

Their dedication and resilience helped them to perform at their absolute best. Well done on this outstanding achievement to have made it to this level, competing against students from all over the southern metropolitan region.

BIRTHDAYS

CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN

Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Ministerial Order No. 1359 – Implementing the Child Safe Standards – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises. All parents/guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.

Further details are available from the school office or the Justice Department website.  All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms.  Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.

A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop off area until 3.30pm.

Trinity Car Park Etiquette

• For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
• Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area.  You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices.  Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly.  The car park is NOT a meeting area.
• The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
• The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES.  These are NO STANDING zones.  If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
• There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park.  All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
• THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
• The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY.  Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
