From the Principal - Term 2, Week 3

On Monday and Tuesday, I had the privilege of attending the Year 4 camp in Mt Evelyn. The staff and students had a wonderful time engaging in activities such as candle making, low ropes course, archery, flying fox, games room and the reptile house. We were very fortunate that the weather held up for us. For many students this was their first time staying away from home and the resilience displayed by each of them was commendable. The students are also to be congratulated on their excellent behaviour. I look forward to taking them on camp again next year!  A big thank you to Miss Lamb, Mrs Albert, Mrs Fernandes, Mrs Schultze, Mrs Romalie, Mr Watty, Mrs Mitrea and Mrs Fernandez for generously giving up their time to support the students on camp. Without the commitment of the staff on camp and those back at school covering the classes and duties, opportunities like camp would not be possible.

Mother’s Day Breakfast

This year our Mother’s Day Breakfasts will be held on the following days:

  • Wednesday 8th May    Families with surnames A-K
  • Friday 10th May            Families with surnames L-Z

A letter was sent home in Week 1. Please RSVP by this Friday 3rd May.

Mother’s Day Stall – Tuesday 7th May

On Tuesday 7th  we will hold our Mother’s Day Stall. If you would like your child to purchase a gift from the stall, pre-payment is required through CDF Pay and can be accessed now.  If you are available to assist with the stall, your support would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the office with your details. The stall will run from 9am until all the classes have finished.

PSG Meetings

Parent Support Group meetings will be held over the coming weeks. Invitations to families requiring a PSG meeting were sent home yesterday. Parents are encouraged to select a time that is suitable.

Staffing Updates for May

During May we have a number of staff on leave. Miss Lamb will be on Long Service Leave for the next two weeks. During her absence, Mr Doherty will cover the class. He is well known to the children. I thank Patrick for his willingness to the support the students with their learning. Mrs Albert will continue to work her usual days.

Miss Marsden will also be taking Long Service Leave for three weeks from the end of May and Mrs Quick will be on leave for three weeks from 17th May.  Their replacement will be communicated closer to the time.

As the weather has started to cool down, we have already seen an increase in the number of students who have been absent from school due to illness. We have also had several staff away every day who have also been unwell. Our priority is always to place a teacher known to the students in the class so that they are aware of the curriculum being taught, the direction of the school and the individual needs of the students. At times we cannot always guarantee this so when this happens, school staff will support the emergency teacher on the day. If you have any concerns about your child when their teacher is away, please speak to one of the other teachers in the level so any important messages can be passed on. Splitting a class will be our last option if we can not get any emergency teachers. I thank families for their understanding when their child’s teacher is away.

Child Safety

Keeping our children safe is an important responsibility we all share. It is our highest priority, as we know that children learn best when they feel they are a part of a safe and supportive environment. It permeates all decision making and puts the interests of our students first. The staff are committed to providing environments where their students feel safe, valued and respected, and their voices are heard. It is critical we adopt a no tolerance response to child abuse and take proactive measures to identify and manage any potential risk of harm to its students.  At Trinity we have several policies and procedures in place that ensure the Child Safe Standards are adhered to. These polices can be found on our school website. We also have a Child Safety team who meet regularly and Child Safety Champions that ensure that Trinity is a place safe to learn and grow. Please continue to talk to your children at home about the people they have identified on their 'safety hand' and what to do if they feel unsafe or are worried about something.

Support for families at Trinity

At Trinity we are fortunate to have the support of Mary Ellen Davis who is a child psychologist. Mary Ellen visits Trinity three times a term and works with staff and families to support the children at the school. If parents would like the opportunity to speak to Mary Ellen regarding their child/ren, please contact the School Office and we will arrange an appropriate time when she is in. The next time Mary Ellen will be at Trinity is on Thursday 9 May.

2025 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

We have now begun the process of enrolling 2025 Foundation students. If you have a child coming in 2025, or know of someone else who does, please contact the office for further details. Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the Trinity School Website.

School Advisory Board

The School Advisory Board meets five times a year to discuss and review events, policies and practices within the school. This year we are seeking the support of a parish representative. If you are a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish and are interested in being part of the School Advisory Board, please send through your expression of interest to principal@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au. Your role would be to liaise with the parish and feed back to the board the events and opportunities within the parish. Expressions of interest will close on Monday 6th May.

The current Advisory Board Members for 2024 are Suzanne Wells, Jayson Perinaygon, Mark Riddington, Jessica Reano, Hilary Fraillon, Liton Kamruzzaman, Bruce Cunningham, Ged Shelton and myself.

Providing Feedback

At Trinity we value parent involvement and feedback. We are continuously reviewing our policies, procedures, and practices so we can continue to provide all students with the opportunity to learn, grown and experience success. To help us with our improvement agenda, we warmly welcome both positive and constructive feedback around the teaching and learning opportunities at Trinity. There are several ways feedback can be provided:

  • Making a time to come in for a coffee and a chat
  • Phone call
  • Email
  • Via the School Board Members
  • Suggestion box in the School Office

Whilst we can’t promise that every request will be actioned, we will endeavour to follow up with you to further discuss what is in the realm of possibilities.

We also encourage families to discuss any concerns they have relating to their child’s experience at school with the classroom teacher.

Religious Education - Term 2, Week 3

Dear Families,

Catholic Education Week

From 17th May to 24th May 2024 Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Sale will celebrate Catholic Education Week. Catholic Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful achievements of Catholic schools and highlight the inspiring life of Catholic schools today.

The theme for this year’s celebrations is, A New Dialogue of Love, Hope and Joy, inspired by the Scripture
passage, ‘See, I am Making All Things New’ (Rev. 21:5). This theme symbolises an optimistic and hope-filled perspective on the world and a renewed approach to fostering positive change. The theme emphasises the belief that transformation and renewal are possible in all aspects of life through individual choices. By following the life and teachings of Jesus, and embracing principles of compassion,
peace, goodness, and justice, individuals can contribute to a more hopeful and joyful world, sowing seeds of positivity and hope.

Through this theme, Catholic schools aim to inspire young people to reflect on the Christian message and to showcase their efforts in contributing to creating a better world. The hope is for staff, students, families, and parishes to embrace this meaningful time and for schools to celebrate their distinctive mission and share features that are special about their schools.

Members of staff will be attending a faith formation with all parish schools at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish during CEW. We will be lead by Fr Michael in reflection of our theme, using artwork by artisit James B. Janknegt (pictured below) to unpack the belief of transformatiom through our relationship with Jesus.

In our classrooms, the theme ‘See, I am Making All Things New’ (Rev. 21:5) has been present on our prayer tables since the beginning of the year. During CEW students will have an oppurutnity to relfect on this scripture through prayer, making connections to how we can make choices that reflect goodness and love.

Family Prayer

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent family prayer sessions here at Trinity. These gatherings have brought our school community closer together in a beautiful display of faith, unity, and togetherness.

Seeing families come together for prayer has been truly heartwarming. These sessions have provided a sacred space for families to connect spiritually, sharing moments of gratitude, hope, and love. The opportunity for students to engage in prayerful reflection with their families has been invaluable. These sessions have not only deepened their spiritual understanding, but also strengthened the bonds within their families. Through shared prayers and moments of contemplation, families have grown closer, nurturing a sense of belonging and support that extends beyond the school gates.

As we continue to foster a spirit of community and faith within our school, we look forward to many more uplifting moments of prayer and togetherness. Thank you for your support and participation in these meaningful sessions.

Reconciliation Celebrations

Congratulations to all the children who recently made their first Reconciliation! This is a significant step in your faith journey, and it's wonderful to see your commitment to spiritual growth and your  willingness to seek forgiveness. May this experience bring you closer to God and fill your hearts with peace and joy. Keep nurturing your relationship with God, and may His love and grace continue to guide you every step of the way. Well done!

Sacrament of First Eucharist

The Parent Formation Night for parents interested in enrolling their child for the sacrament of First Eucharist is on 1st May 6:45pm at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish. If for any reason you are unable to attend, please contact the parish office.

                                      TRINITY CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL

On Friday 26th March, we held our whole school cross country carnival on our school grounds. The students faced the endurance running challenge with determination, a positive attitude and resilience, which helped them successfully complete their course. As the students crossed the finish line with a sense of relief, it was great to see them celebrate their achievements. It was fantastic to see the way the students showed great sportsmanship by supporting, encouraging and congratulating one another. Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers, Jess, Mel and Gerard for assisting and guiding the students along the course. Thank you also to our fantastic sport captains, Cohen, Aaliyah S, Lucas K, Chanel, Ethan F, Eve, Josh St and Aariel for assisting throughout the day. Trinity Car Park Etiquette

  • For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
  • Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area.  You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices.  Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly.  The car park is NOT a meeting area.
  • The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
  • The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES.  These are NO STANDING zones.  If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
  • There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park.  All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
  • THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
  • The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY.  Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.

Thank you for your patience and consideration of others
