From the Principal

This week I have been honoured to be appointed as the Principal of Trinity. As I step into the principal role, I am filled with excitement, enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility to contribute to the continued success and growth of our wonderful school.

My vision for Trinity is centred around continuing to create a safe, aspirational and inclusive community through collaboration and innovation in a faith filled environment. I firmly believe that a strong partnership between students, parents, teachers and the community is essential for creating a dynamic and supportive learning culture. Together, we will build on our school’s rich traditions while also embracing new opportunities for growth and improvement.

I hope that you are all able to take time over the upcoming holidays, relaxing with your children and reflecting on their successes and growth over the year so far. Have a wonderful break!

Footy Day this Friday 20 September

This Friday the students are invited to wear the jumpers and/or colours of their favourite sports team, from any code. Throughout the day they will be participating in AFL footy activities in their classrooms, as well as outside. We look forward to finishing the term with this celebration.

Robocup State Competition

On the weekend, I had the pleasure of accompanying 25 of our students as they competed in the Robocup State Competition. The dedication of these young people who had given up their lunchtimes to prepare and learn, paid off as they used their coding skills over multiple courses and hurdles. The way in which they came together as teams to problem solve and support each other under pressure was remarkable. At times they needed to be very resilient. flexible in their thinking and show true grit. Thank you to Mr Dannaoui who prepared the students in the preceding months and for encouraging them throughout the day.

School Disco

Thank you to everyone who made the School Disco such a successful event. Our Fundraising Committee, along with the volunteers on the night, worked tirelessly to create a fun, safe environment for our students. Thank you also to the school staff who stayed to support the students.

Divisional Athletics

Today we had five students competing in Divisional Athletics at Casey Fields. They all did extremely well and should be proud of their individual achievements. Thank you to the families for driving them to the event and the staff who attended for supporting the students.

Families Who are Leaving the School

If for any reason you are aware that your child will not be returning to Trinity in 2025, we would ask that you inform the school. This will assist us to forward plan and inform other families who are currently on a waiting list.

Religious Education - Week 10

Dear Families, 

Family Prayer 

Thank you for your wonderful participation in Family Prayer this term. It has been an enriching experience for both students and families, fostering a deeper sense of community and faith. We are excited to continue this meaningful tradition in Term 4, with a slight change in format. Beginning at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the Trinity Chapel, prayer will now be conducted by year levels rather than individual classes. We look forward to your continued involvement as we gather to reflect, pray, and grow together.

Level Two Community Outreach - St Jude's Nursing Home

In Religious Education, we have been exploring our inquiry topic of 'If Not Me, Then Who?'. We have been unpacking the Good Samaritan story and discovering how we can use our gifts and talents to make a difference to groups and individuals in need in our community. We identified that St. Jude's Calvary in Narre Warren Nth was a group that we could help. We used our gifts of creativity to make drawings, artwork and letters to send over to St. Jude's. We hope in doing this, we will make the residents feel happy, connected with their community and give them a reason to smile!

Working with Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, we connected with the Catechism group to help us deliver the cards and spread joy to others. 

Level Three Religion Inquiry 

In Level 3 we have been learning about the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and how we can use out gifts and talents to contribute to the greater good. We have also been unpacking what mission looks like and feels like. Within out classes, we have chosen an inquiry to live out our mission in words and actions. 

In 3B this term we decided to focus our inquiry on raising awareness for Big W's Toys for Joy. Toys for Joy is a toy drive where old toys are donated to either be given to children in need or broken down to create other toys for these children.As a class we decided to raise awareness for this cause by hosting a games session for all grade 3's to encourage them to bring a toy donation in.This was very successful as we had many donations across the 3 classes.

In 3A and 3C we wanted to contribute to our school's Catholic Identity and reflect on how the Word of God inspires us to live. In small groups 3C selected scripture that inspired us and created a design for our mosaic tile. We will place our finish products in a prayer garden. Below are our results so far! In 3A we created some prayer crosses. First we painted our crosses and now we are working on binding them with coloured wool to create a capturing design. 

Level Four - Religion Inquiry - Backpacks for Kids 

In Level Four we have been learning about the Catholic Social Teaching principles, and exploring how we are invited to respond to God’s love by showing care for self, others and creation. As part of our action, we reached our to an organisation called Backpacks4Kids. We have collected a variety of stationary and other resources for children in need in our local community. Below are our donations so far!

Save the Date - OLHC Christmas Carols

Invitation from Fr Michael

Pope Francis has dedicated 2024 as the Year of Prayer, in anticipation of the Jubilee Year of 2025. To celebrate the Year of Prayer, I would like to invite all families from Trinity Catholic Primary school to pray the Rosary together with your Parish family on the 30th of October 2024 from 7pm to 7:30pm.

The Parish Rosary is prayed every Wednesday night online via Zoom and you are invited to join in from the comfort of your own homes. My hope is that this will encourage many of our school families to pray together in the month of the Rosary in a way that could lead to regular family prayer, which always bears much fruit in those relationships.

If anyone participating has a particular intention that they would like to be prayed for, please feel free to put them in the chat room once logged in.

The ZOOM Link will be shared via PAM/email this week, as well as the week of the 30th of October to ensure it is kept private.

Why do we Pray the Rosary

As John Paul II explained, the repeated prayers in the Rosary help us get more in touch with the deepest desires in our souls for God. The Rosary provides us with a time and place to connect with our inner self. The Rosary is a meditative prayer. This simple prayer, in fact, helps us to contemplate all that God in his love has done for us and allows us to understand that our life is united to that of Christ. In prayer, we bring everything to God, our struggles, our wounds, our fears, but also our joys, our gifts, our loved ones … all to God. By praying, we allow God to enter our time, to welcome and transfigure all that we experience.

Think of the Rosary as being like the ocean: there’s something in it for everyone. The deep- sea explorer and the child making sand castles on the beach can fully enjoy the same ocean while playing at different levels. And this is true with the Rosary… just a two-and-a-half- minute break and you can pull out your Rosary beads and pray a decade in order to regroup with the Lord and be nourished spiritually. That’s all a decade takes: one Our Father, ten Hail Marys, and one Glory Be.

MHiPS: Wellbeing Continuum - Term 3, Week 10

As a part of the Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative, we are looking to improve the emotional literacy for our students and the wider school community.  Recently, we introduced the Wellbeing Continuum to students to help them describe how they are generally feeling.  To keep it simple and easy to remember, we introduced four words: good, coping, struggling, overwhelmed.  These will be the keywords we will use with students when it looks like they are  struggling. Below is a cheat sheet that outlines the definitions for each of these terms.  We are encouraging families to use these terms with their children when working through issues at home.  It will empower our students to speak up when they don't feel right improving their chances of working through their problems.

Day for Daniel - October 25th

Now in its 20th year, Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness day. In recent years, more than 2 million Australians have united with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation (DMF) to protect children and remember Daniel. Day for Daniel urges Australians to Wear Red, Educate and Donate as we take action and conduct child safety activities focused on Keeping Kids Safe. This year Day for Daniel will celebrate the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s 20 years of keeping kids safe.

At Trinity we will be acknowledging the day with age appropriate activities to complement what they already learn about safety, as well as what they learnt in Australia's Biggest Child Safety Lesson. More information to come early next term.

Visual Art-Term 3, Week 10

Grade Five Clay Dragon Eye Exhibition

The Grade Five students artwork has been chosen to be displayed at the Zart Art Gallery in Box Hill for the whole of Term Three, this artwork is a multi media piece with a focus on the elements of Art- Colour and Texture.

It is a great opportunity for our students to experience having their works displayed to the public.The Zart Student Gallery is a unique public space dedicated to the exhibition of student artwork. It provides an exciting and meaningful platform for children of all ages to celebrate their visual art practice and receive positive feedback and recognition

District Athletics, Term 3, Week 10

SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA (SSV)

CRANBOURNE NORTH DISTRICT ATHLETICS

(Wednesday 4th September, 2024)

Recently, 62 students from years 4-6 represented Trinity at the School Sport Victoria (SSV) Cranbourne North District Athletics held at the Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre. The students competed against 8 other schools in our district in both track and field events. Congratulations to all the students for representing Trinity with pride and displaying outstanding sportsmanship towards both fellow Trinity students and competitors from the other schools. All students tried their very best, with many students achieving personal best (PB) results. We appreciate and thank our parent helpers, Gerard, Kate and Jasmine who assisted with warm ups, events and supporting the students. Thank you also to Mrs Schultze, Mrs Darwish and Mrs Parker for supporting the students and guiding them to their events and to Mrs Quick and Mrs Volange who assisted at shot put. A special thank you to the family members who came to support and encourage the students.

Casey 360 Bus

The Casey 360 Bus is a mobile youth information centre for young people aged 10yrs and up. Staffed by youth workers, young people can access information, support, games, technology, sports equipment, and free internet access. Young people are welcome to pop in and check it out. The Casey 360 Bus will be visiting locations in the community during the upcoming school holidays. Please find more information below.

Trinity Car Park Etiquette

  • For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
  • Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area.  You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices.  Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly.  The car park is NOT a meeting area.
  • The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
  • The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES.  These are NO STANDING zones.  If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
  • There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park.  All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
  • THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
  • The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY.  Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.

CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN

Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Ministerial Order No. 1359 – Implementing the Child Safe Standards – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises. All parents/guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.

Further details are available from the school office or the Justice Department website.  All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms.  Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.

A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop off area until 3.30pm.
