CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN
From the Principal
Over the past week, I have been filled with pride as our students represented our school so beautifully at both the Division Athletics and the Robocup Regional Competition. On the sporting field and in the competition space, our students displayed determination, skill and teamwork. Just as importantly, they supported one another—celebrating successes, encouraging through challenges, and showing what it truly means to live our school motto: Growing together in faith, hope and love.
These moments remind us that achievement is not only about individual effort, but about the way we lift each other up. Whether it is on the athletics track, in a robotics challenge, or in the everyday life of our school, we are stronger when we stand together. Our students have modelled this so well, showing that faith, hope and love are lived out through encouragement, kindness and unity.
As a community, we too are called to support one another. At times, each of us will need the strength of others, and at other times we are called to give that strength. In this way, our school community continues to grow together—always learning, always striving, always caring for one another.
Student Free Day This Thursday 21st August
Tomorrow, Thursday the 21st is a student free day. On this day, there will be no staff at school, and the school office will be shut. We look forward to seeing everyone again Friday.
SSV District Athletics
Last Wednesday the 13th of August, we had 53 students represent Trinity at the District Athletics. These students did an amazing job, competing across the track and field events they qualified for from our school sports earlier in the year. To get to this level of representation is remarkable in itself and to qualify for the next level, is even more amazing. To their credit, we have 23 students who are now due to compete at the Division Level in the first week of Term 4. Trinity placed second overall, which was a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to all who competed and thank you to Mrs Woolf who made sure the day went smoothly for all involved.
RoboCup Outer Eastern Regional Competition
Last Friday we had 40 students represent Trinity at the RoboCup Outer Eastern Regional Competition. Throughout the beginning of the year, these students have been giving up lunchtimes each week, working together to problem solve, code, practice and encourage each other. Their commitment and dedication have been remarkable. We are so proud of the way they faced the challenges of the competition and supported each other on the day.
The next step in the process for those who want to continue, is the state event which is to be held on Saturday the 13th of September. We wish them all the best as they prepare for this special occasion. A special thank you to Mr Dannaoui for his commitment to training and supporting the students and Mrs Darwish for her assistance too.
Staffing Updates
On Monday the 25th of August, we are welcoming Mrs Sirimanna to teach Grade 2B on Mondays and Tuesdays for the rest of the year. Mrs Sirimanna has been a regular Casual Relief Teacher at Trinity and has taught many classes across all levels. This change is to allow Mr Nicholas Watty, our Wellbeing and Wholes School Approach to Positive Behaviour Leader, to be released to support students and staff across the whole week. We look forward to having Mrs Sirimanna at Trinity on a more regular basis.
After School Supervision
The use of the school playgrounds and other areas at the end of the day has become popular but there are some parameters which need to be followed due to Child Safety.
- All students must be supervised by their own parents during this time, and the parents must be physically present, not supervising from cars or in other areas of the school. This is a Child Safety issue as there are no staff supervising these areas at the start or the end of the day.
- The school gates are due to shut at 3:25pm in the afternoons. It is important that these gates are shut at this time, as staff need to get to meetings and Camp Australia needs to be able to safely let the students at afterschool care out to enjoy the space.
Thank you for your support in following these guidelines and keeping our students safe.
Book Week – Dress Up Day: Thursday 28 August
We will celebrate Book Week with a special dress up day on Thursday 28th August. The theme for this year’s Book Week is “Book an Adventure”. The children will acknowledge this special week in their class. On the day, they may come to school dressed as their favourite book character.
This year marks 80 years of Children’s Book Week!

This year we will hold our traditional Father’s Day breakfast over two mornings.
Tuesday 2nd September Families with surnames A-L
Thursday 4th September Families with surnames M-Z
More details will come home in the coming weeks.
2026 Planning
We are now halfway through Term 3 and have begun planning for 2026. If parents have a genuine reason for class placement requests for next year, could you please put them in writing addressed to myself by Friday 12th September. An enormous amount of time and effort is put into the creation of class lists and many factors are taken into consideration by the staff. A written request will be considered on its merits but it is not a guarantee. At Trinity we work on a whole school approach and are blessed to have a committed teaching staff who collaborate to give the very best learning opportunities to all students in our care. With this in mind, I ask that you please do not request a certain teacher for your child or for their friends. The students will have the opportunity to identify a number of their peers that they work with and relate well too. Please be aware that a request has to be made for the current year, we will not be referring to requests made 12 months ago as circumstances change.
2026 Enrolments and Families Leaving the School
We are already full for Foundation 2026 and have a waiting list in other Year Levels. If your child is not returning to Trinity in 2026, it would be appreciated if you could please let the school office know ASAP, so we can offer your place to families on our waiting list.

Term 3, Week 5 - Religious Education
Dear Families,
Confirmation Celebration

Level One - Good Samaritan Work
In Religion this term, our Level One students have been exploring the inquiry “The World is in Our Hands!” by learning about the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Using the AWES Approach, students have stepped into the “world of the text” to better understand the story’s characters, setting, and meaning. They have enjoyed retelling the parable, asking questions about the people involved, and thinking about what life was like in Jesus’ time.
This week, students have begun reflecting more deeply on the message of the parable. Together, they have asked: “How can I be a Good Samaritan in my community?” Their responses have reflected ideas such as: showing kindness to classmates, helping someone who is hurt, including others in games, and noticing ways they can make a difference in small but powerful ways.

Kind regards,
Emily Rogers
Religious Education Leader
Term 3, Week 5 - Robocup Regional Competition

On the 15th of August, year fives and sixes in robotics competed in Robocup Regionals at Ramlegh Park Primary School, Clyde North. For the past two (and a bit) terms, the teams have been progressing excellently on their work, whether it’s programming the robot to move around a bottle or modifying the features to extend its own neck. From Trinity there were a total of 14 teams competing, 9 teams in the starter division ‘Riley Rover’ and 5 teams in the following division ‘Primary’. This was one of the largest regional competitions in Robocup with a total of 41 teams in Riley Rover and 14 teams in Primary, and was also one of the most successful groups in Trinity history.
In Riley Rover, 7 Trinity teams finished in the top 10, and 3 teams finished in the top 5 for Primary. For some people it was their first time competing, for others it might have been their third, but the day was full of cheering, laughter and plenty of food. Every single one of our teams did so well and we should congratulate them all. They should all be so proud of themselves. Their next competition will happen on September 13th, where they will compete to be the best in the state. Let us cheer them on to victory!

Student's Reports
Grade 6 Market Day
As part of our Business and Economics unit the Year 6 students developed their own business. With a target market (Year 3 and 4 students) they had to devise a product/business that would appeal to that demographic. Students creativity was on display as students worked hard making the products for their stalls. Skills targeted are teamwork, reflective thinking, communication and profit and loss. The multi purpose room was abuzz with excitement as the market got underway!
On Wednesday all the Year 6’s got to set up our own stalls to sell things of their choice or set up games to play. All the year threes and fours came to our stalls and using their 25 tokens, they got to buy or play the games from the stalls. We all had lots of fun on this day and we think it will be lots of fun for the Year Fives next year. Chloe and Ayla
The things that I liked throughout market day is when everyone had a smile on their face enjoying the game and I also liked the teamwork me and my team did like communication, listening to each other's ideas and most important of all teamwork.
The things we can do better next time is make a fair time for them to shoot like each turn equals to 30 seconds worth of shooting and not too long of time. We can also make sure we don't run out of anything like prices and be more careful if we run out of anything.
District Athletics
This week on Wednesday 53 students went to Casey fields to compete in district athletics which is a competition where schools in local areas participate in events. Everyone who went used all of their might to push us into second place overall, cheering on other students who were participating in track and field events. This year's atmosphere filled everyone with joy and support concluding with 23 students finalising into division. Xavier
This week 53 students went to district athletics at Casey fields to compete against 9 other schools. Out of all those 53 students that participated 23 out of those 53 students went through to the next round which is division, and to get through to the next round you had to place 1st or 2nd but in high jump you had to place 1st in order to reach the next round. But something else that Trinity did really well was the sportsmanship because they were one of the only schools that were cheering but all the other schools were also cheering but not as loud as us and after every race or field event everyone from each school was saying things like “Good job” or something like “Great job” but overall everyone was really supportive and really respectful to all the staff there. Great Trinity! Jye
On Wednesday we went to district athletics. Trinity tried their very best and we made history. Out of 9 schools including Lyndhurst, Lyndbrook, River Gum, St Francis de sales and much more we placed second. Our effort not only on the field but the cheering as well was outstanding. I know this because when I was on the complete opposite side of the stands all I could hear was people cheering “TRINITY” “TRINITY “ “ TRINITY” “ TRINITY”. Trinity placing second was the best we have ever gotten. Even though it was wet and raining, even when we were cold, wet and shivering and the track was wet we went out there and tried our very best and very hardest and it paid off. Now 23 out of 53 students made it to division. Now that is what I call history. Cruize
Bullying: No Way Week

Last week was Bullying: No Way Week. Bullying No Way Week is Australia's key bullying prevention initiative for schools. It provides an opportunity for schools to create a shared understanding about bullying behaviours and share their bullying prevention policies and strategies.
The theme for 2025 is to: Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up.
It takes courage to spark change. Bullying is everyone's responsibility. It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate. Students can be bold, kind and take a stand to support others being bullied. While parents and teachers are there to support children and young people learn how to behave in a positive way. In our community and in our school, we want a place where everyone can belong, a place that celebrates everyone, and where bullying is never accepted.
This year, we aimed to teach everyone to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone and be proud to take a stand against bullying.
During the week, students participated in a live-streamed anti-bullying lesson hosted by Kids Helpline. The lesson supported students with expert tips, tools and strategies to respond to in-the-moment bullying.

HAMPTON PARK DISTRICT ATHLETICS
On Wednesday 13th August, 53 students from years 4-6 represented Trinity at the Hampton Park District Athletics held at Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre. These students qualified to compete based on their athletics results from our school athletics day in term 1.
The students were absolutely amazing throughout the day in the way they represented Trinity. They participated to the best of their ability in cold and wet conditions, with many students achieving a personal best result. They are to be commended for the way they showed great sportsmanship by supporting and encouraging each other as well as their competitors.
At the conclusion of the event, our students were totally elated when they found out that overall, Trinity placed 2nd out of nine schools. This is such a fantastic achievement for our school. Congratulations to all the students on their outstanding efforts with their training and the results that they achieved.

SAFE AROUND Trinity Catholic Primary

Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- Please abide by the 5km/h limit the WHOLE TIME you are in the park area.
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays in our school car park.
- Thank you to all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOTa meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the only PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDINGzones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and either park or rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- THE GATES CLOSEAT 8.45am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close at the end of the day at 3:25pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
We really need commitment from families to NOT TURN RIGHT when exiting the car park. All vehicles must TURN LEFT for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
We also have families double parking along Oakgrove Drive and letting their children out. This is unsafe, prevents traffic flow and against road rules.
We have also been contacted by Casey Council, which patrols the area, about families performing U-turns on Oakgrove Drive. Their advice is as follows:
Ø U-turns are dangerous during the peak school times for pedestrians but also other drivers.
Ø They recommend NOT performing U-turns in this area. This is dangerous for children and pedestrians around a school precinct.
Ø They recommend driving further up to the roundabout on Oakgrove Drive, where you can turn around safely or exit away from the school.
If you have others picking up your children, such as Grandparents, can you please inform them of Trinity’s protocols or etiquette.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email and I look forward to your continued commitment to keep our students and families safe.
CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Ministerial Order No. 1359 – Implementing the Child Safe Standards – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises. All parents/guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.
Further details are available from the school office or the Justice Department website. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.
A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop off area until 3.30pm.
